Business Model
Our business model is selling premium listings to language schools. A premium
listing includes a portrait page, extra links and banners on our sites. In 2006 we
had 7 premium listings, each of them charged EUR 120,- per year, which made a total
income of 840,- EUR. This income was generated by our long term customers, while we
didn't find the time for doing any marketing in the last two years. With an intensive
marketing, it should be easy to double or triple the income.
We also have a lot of ideas how to expand the business model. Because people seem to
like our translation link list, we get a lot of link exchange requests from
freelancers and translation services. We think that our business model can be easily
expanded by offering premium listings for these freelancers and translation services.
The Link Price Calculator
recommends to charge $30 per month for placing a text link on each page of Foreign
Language Home. We don't know if this is appropriate, but it may be also worth trying.
Another idea regarding the linking would be placing Google AdSense on each page.
What we also wanted to do is reselling software to language students. Students are
mainly interested in vocabulary trainers and games, but also ask for translation
software and dictionaries. We already have an affiliate account at
RegNow, but we
didn't find the time to derive the appropriate software and build up a list on
Foreign Language Home.
Our vision of Foreign Language Home is becoming a portal that provides everything
a student needs to learn a specific foreign language, which means language courses,
software, dictionaries, translations and an online community, where languages are practiced
through language specific chats, forums, blogs and foto books as well as pen pal and dating services.

vokki) as well as the web pages that are related to our software. We will give you non
exclusive rights to continue offering the software for downloads. If you are also interested in the

After purchasing Foreign Language Home, you will have to continue our premium listings. However,
if you have different plans, all advertising contracts with our customers can be terminated within
one year.
To handle the purchasing we can transfer our hosting account to you. This way
you will get the domain together with the living web pages. Additionally we will set
up a contract that gives you the IP.
Technical Requirements
The visual design of Foreign Language Home may seem to be a little bit old fashioned,
but has the advantage of fitting very well for search engine robots. Foreign Language Home mainly uses plain HTML and therefore is very easy to modify.
An exception is our language course search engine,
which stores all data in text files using Perl and CGI. We know that this may not
be state of the art, but we didn't find the time to optimize the backend. The new
owner may consider migrating to PHP and SQL Server.
Reason for Selling
